Rental Policy & Guidelines

A welcoming guideline will be sent out before arrival with more details.

The lake is the most important asset to the Big Wolf Lake Association. In order to protect this treasure from Aquatic Invasive Species, the Association has adopted the following rules:

Visitors and Renters are not permitted to bring any type of watercraft, water sport equipment or fishing gear on to Big Wolf Lake.

Power boats (gas, diesel, electric, antique) and their trailers on BWL are not permitted to travel to other bodies of water and return to BWL.

Power boats taken off BWL for storage or service, must be transported by trailers provided by individual camp owners or BWLA; they must not come in contact with other bodies of water.

No non-power boats, which have been in contact with other bodies of water, may be brought onto BWL or taken off, exposed to other bodies of water and returned. Newly acquired non-power boats, which have been in other waters, may be introduced to BWL but must be power washed under the supervision of the BWLA Caretaker.

NO LIVE BAIT MAY BE INTRODUCED INTO BIG WOLF EXCEPT WORMS AND NIGHT CRAWLERS.

Purchasing other live bait at a bait shop for use on BWL is not permitted, although USING CRAYFISH, MINNOWS, ETC. FOR FISHING ON BWL IS PERMITTED IF THEY ARE TRAPPED AND COLLECTED ON BWL.

NO FISHING EQUIPMENT THAT HAS TOUCHED ANOTHER BODY OF WATER SHALL BE USED IN BIG WOLF LAKE.

Full disclaimer:

This is a rustic camp. In a lot of ways, it could be considered primitive, almost “glamping”. There is no air conditioning in the cabins besides in the primary bedroom. Fans are provided in case it’s still warm at night. There are also heaters in most of the rooms, including portable ones that can be moved around accordingly.

There will be critters, which most likely will include the following:

mosquitos, black flies, butterflies, spiders, mice, chipmunks, northern red squirrels, toads, woodpeckers, bald eagles, ducks, loons, deer, and on occasion moose and black bears. This experience will most likely include immersing in nature and children who will not want to be on electronics for the duration of their stay. The simplicity of gathering with family & friends by a lake, catching a whopper smallmouth bass, having fun game nights, cooking & laughing together, bonfires on the beach, and dancing in the moonlight may also occur.
